14 Days Rwanda Congo Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1; Arrival & Hotel Transfer

14 days Rwanda Congo Uganda tour starts with arrival at Kigali international airport in Rwanda, you will be met by our company representative and transfer to Kigali city where you will embark on a city tour visiting Kimironko market and the Gisozigenocide memorial site.

Have lunch and transfer to Musanze – the nearest town to Volcanoes National Park found in the northern province of Rwanda arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel

Day 2:  Trekking with Gorillas on Mind – Volcanoes National Park

Treat yourself to a heavy breakfast and a short drive to the park headquarters at kinigi for briefing and preparing you for an epic primates encounter. You will then set off for the gorilla trekking with the park ranger guide and porters – for those that may need them.

You will trek through the rugged terrain for 3 to 6 hours until you have the gorillas in sight. You are granted a full hour to observe and take pictures of the Gorillas and later walk back out of the forest / mountain back to the starting point for your Gorilla trekking certificate!

In the afternoon you may go for an optional village tour for a cultural experience with a resident local guide. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge of choice as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Embark on an unforgettable journey from Volcanoes National Park to Nyungwe Forest National Park, traversing the scenic landscapes of Rwanda’s countryside.

Day 4: Transfer to Goma –DR Congo

After a healthy breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on your relaxed drive to Goma Arriving at Mikeno Lodge you will comfortably check-in to your room, you have be provided a late lunch and an option of nature walks or just enjoy a rest and refreshment after a briefing from the local guide.

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Virunga National Park.

Early wake in Mikeno where you’ll get a full panoramic view of the volcanoes where the mountain gorillas reside. Take a three hour trek through the rainforest to share what is sure to be a memorable moment with the mountain gorillas in their natural environment in the Virunga National Park.

Picnic will be provided. To safeguard the health of Virunga’s gorillas, visitors will be required to wear surgical masks (provided) when in the presence of gorillas. Time with the gorillas is strictly limited to one hour. After your return to the Lodge you can relax or visit gorilla orphans in the Senkwekwe Center.

Day 6 : Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After having your morning breakfast, you will set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National park in Uganda.You will have lunch en-route, arriving in Bwindi in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

Day 7; Gorilla trekking – Bwindi impenetrable national park

After an early morning breakfast you will drive to the park headquarters for briefing and go for gorilla trekking, this could take 4-6 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas. After trekking, return for dinner and overnight at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge as above

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park

After having your morning breakfast, you will set off for Queen Elizabeth National park passing through the famous  Ishasha sector  park where you may spot some tree climbing lions. You will have lunch en-route and proceed to Park view Safari lodge for Dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10:Transfer to Kibale National Park

You will have breakfast and then drive to Kibale national park.  You will have lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee forest guest house

Day 11; Chimpanzee trekking- Kibale National park

Have early morning breakfast and go for briefing and start chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for Chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees.

After lunch, your swamp walk (2-3 hours) will take you through grassland, small communities, and some beautiful scenery, where the locals are likely to greet you with enthusiastic waves. It is usual to spot 3 or 4 different primate species during this walk, though the highlight is catching a glimpse of the Great Blue Turaco!

Day 12:Transfer to Murchison falls National Park

Enjoy breakfast and drive to Murchison falls national park. You will enter through Kichumbanyobo gate and visit the top of the falls and then proceed to Pakuba safari lodge for dinner and overnight stay

After your morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on your journey back to Ziwa rhino sanctuary in Nakasongola along kampala-Gulu high way.

On arrival, you will catch a  glimpse of the  second largest land mammal on earth on a bush walk-the Rhinoceros. An armed ranger will ensure safety as you proceed into the thickets to find funny giants. A sight on these endangered species is a memorable experience in their natural habitats, the beautiful birds will not leave a bird lover’s checklist the same.
