Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Jinja
Upon arrival at Entebbe International airport, you will be welcomed to the pearl of Africa and immediately set off to Jinja via Kampala –Entebbe high way with a stop for shopping a at a Victoria Mall. Through the busy city of Kampala ,you will enjoy the drive with views of the beautiful sunrise and the busy trading towns along the way.
40km along the way, you will have a stopover in the thick tropical rain forest of Mabira, the cool and conducive temperature, calls from the singing birds and the swaying trees with monkeys in their canopies will hold your breath. Finally you will reach this legendary town of Jinja is famous for its unmatched adventure experience way back to in the 80’s. these two days of an affordable short safari will be a remarkable lifetime experience
Day 2 Source Of The Nile
After a morning breakfast, head to the jetty for a boat ride to the spot where the World’s longest river Nile commences its long way to the Mediterranean sea as it flows northwards. , you would have seen the source of the longest river on planet earth and also the largest flesh water lake in Africa Lake Victoria. Gift shops at the source of the Nile are one of the best places with good looking art pieces of the Ugandan cultures.
Options of White water rafting, horseback riding, biking, and a community visit await you in the afternoon and evening hours.
Day 3: Transfer to Murchison fall national park
After an early morning breakfast, you will set off from jinja to the Murchison fall national park in the north western Uganda. With stopovers en-route, you shall take this long day drive via Masindi and we will make it into the park in the evening hour
This park also stirs one’s love for adventure as it also provides an excellent safari experience of the Murchison falls themselves which are a spectacular sight where the mighty river nile squeezes itself through a narrow gorge of 6 meters wide making a thunderous roar and impressive water rapids that one will never forget on a safari in Uganda.
Day 4: Game drive and evening boat ride
As early as 6am, we will leave the lodge for a morning game drive. We always aim at the big game viewing as most of the animals are always active in the morning hours, this may also yield a chance of spotting the some nocturnal animals like the lions, leopards, hyenas and hippopotamus from the hunting activities in the night.
Later we return to the lodge for breakfast, refreshment and lunch in at 12:30pm
Drive to the jetty for a boat to the bottom of the Murchison falls. On your way, you will encounter schools of hippos diving in the water, herds of elephants and tower of giraffes that come to quench their thirst at the river banks and the crocodile which are the Nile predators. Brightly colored water birds like the kingfisher, red throated bee eaters, African fish eagle, African darter, long tailed and white breasted cormorant, pale’s fishing owl, great white egrets, herons, African jacana, black crake to mention but a few will overwhelm your birding experience
A hike from the bottom to the top of the falls is such a memorable experience as a you walk along the Nile river in a cool green environment of singing bird mixed with the sound from the falls. At the top, the fall will catch your eyes as the Nile waters hit the rocks and bounce high to form a nature shower that cools you from the hike, a photo is inevitable!
At the top, I will be waiting to take you back to the lodge on a relaxed drive. On our way, you can decide to have an evening game drive or to drive direct to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
After breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and embark on your journey to Uganda’s most famous safari destination provides classic big game, ten primate species and over 600 bird species hence a true birder’s paradise. Experience the tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector and a cruise down the kazinga channel offers the best wildlife viewing on the lake shore including the world’s largest population of hippos.
On arrival you shall enjoy a game drive towards the Kasenyi plains which may reward you with sightings of the various animals like huge herds of the Ugandan kob, elephants, leopard, lion, buffalos, warthogs and antelope.
Day 6: Game drive and a boat ride
Early in the morning, you shall embark for a game drive in the famous Ishasha sector which is famous for its tree climbing lions. Chances of sighting these lazy cats are not guaranteed, however such an early morning game drive is paramount to a successful game drive in pursuit for them
Thereafter, return to the lodge for breakfast, refreshment and lunch at mid day
Later after lunch, you will embark on a boat cruise on Kaziga channel. This is very rewarding with the aquatic animals like crocodiles, hippos and many bird species like black bee carmine bee eaters and black bee eaters, Lesser Swamp-Warbler, Striated Heron among others
Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After breakfast, you will choose an optional activity of exploring the Kyambura wildlife reserve. Driving through the grassland area, all of a sudden you come across an amazing gorge of a hundred meters deep, covered with tropical rainforest. You will hike into the gorge of chimpanzees. It’s a beautiful walk through the river valley, home to many birds and butterfly species
Later after lunch, you will set off and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park. The scenic route runs through a verdant countryside while you pass traditional homesteads and farms.
Day 8: Gorilla tracking
Life-time memorable experience. After morning breakfast, you will get ready, along with your packed lunches to embark on the lifetime memorable experience in this magnificent forest for gorilla tracking. The trail you use may reward you with exciting moments of the giant mountain gorillas in Uganda this will be a reward of the ultimate gorilla experience’ as well as other primates that inhabit the forest. This may take you about 4-5 hrs in the jungle. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead before you encounter any gorilla. But it will definitely be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest. For conservation purposes, time will be limited to one hour. The ranger guide will always briefs you on how to behave with these gentle giants
Later you will drive to lake Bunyonyi for a relaxation
Day 9: Transfer to lake Mburo National park
After breakfast, embark for Lake Mburo national park which take you about five hours with lunch en route. As you enter the park and head towards the accommodation, it is likely that you will see some wildlife like impalas, topis, warthogs, zeberas and buffaloes. After checking in you will go on a boat ride on the lake you’ll be able to spot hippos, crocodiles, and various water birds like Papyrus Yellow Warblers, African Finfoot, African Fish Eagle, Great White Egret, Pied Kingfisher, the Night Heron, Papyrus Gonolek and many more
Day 10: Game viewing
Following the first meal of the day, we’ll embark on either a morning game drive or biking where we have greater chances of viewing several animal species like zebra, impala, topi, eland, buffalos, and hartebeests. The park’s landscape which consists of rolling grassy hills and idyllic shorelines provides a mesmerizing drive and ride experience.
After lunch, you will set off for Kampala with a stopover at the Uganda Equator for photography and shopping and later continue. On arrival, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
