Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda is a lush and beautiful forest, full of wildlife and trails to explore. It’s known as the largest mountain rainforest in Central Africa, and it’s one of the only places in the world where you can catch a glimpse of some rare and endangered species. The Nyungwe forest canopy walkway is one of the most popular attractions in the park. This suspended bridge gives visitors a bird’s eye view of the tall trees and canopies, as well as a view of some of the resident wildlife. It really is a unique experience and a great way to get a different view of the rainforest. On this 3 Days Nyungwe Forest Chimpanzee, you can also catch a glimpse of some of the local fauna. There are over 300 species of birds, 400 species of butterflies, and a large population of African golden monkeys. You may even spot the odd elephant and buffalo roaming the park.
Spending the day in Nyungwe Forest is an unforgettable experience. The rainforest is cleared in sections to provide pathways to walk the trails and explore the nature. Along the trails, there are plenty of places to take a break, enjoy the view, and take in the calming background noise of the forest. The landscape is unbelievably lush, and the sky is a piercing blue. Sunlight filters through the canopy, and the trees are alive with birds and lizards.

Chimpanzee trekking gives visitors an unforgettable experience, with the chance to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. You’ll be guided through the forest as you trek with a knowledgeable guide, stopping to observe the primates as they forage for food, play, and rest. A trek usually lasts anywhere from a few hours to a full day, depending on where the chimps are that day. You’ll have to hike through the nature trails of the park, sometimes crossing meadows and swamps, so it’s important to be prepared.
Before starting your trek, make sure to be properly dressed and equipped. Wear layers of clothing and thick soled shoes to protect yourself from branches and thorns, and don’t forget to bring enough water and snacks for the hike. The guides at Nyungwe will update you on the latest news regarding chimpanzees whereabouts, so you won’t have to spend hours looking for them.
Once you locate them, you’ll be able to observe their behavior from a safe (but not too far) distance. Be sure to take some stunning photographs to take with you and share with your friends and family after the trek.
After your lunch, you will enjoy the canopy walk in the afternoon hours of the day.
Spanning over 200 meters and suspended 50 meters above the ground, this zip-line cable walkway allows visitors to get up close and personal with the forest from an entirely new perspective. The Canopy Walk was the first to be built in East and Central Africa, and stretches between two large trees, connected by seven pillars. You will be taken up 62 meters in a raised chairlift, where you will find the highest platform of the Canopy Walk.
Heading down the 63 meters will take you to the lowest platform. The stunning view from the walkway consists of rolling hills, mosaics of forest patches, and canopy vegetation that houses some of the most interesting bird species in East Africa. Visitors can also spot different primates, such as the colobus and mangabey monkeys as they carefully make their way across
