5 Days Rwanda Gorilla and chimpanzee will take you to Rwanda to tour a country with “a thousand hills”. Rwanda, Uganda and DRC are the only countries that are home to the endangered mountain Gorillas in the whole world. Besides trekking Rwanda gorillas, you may choose to go for a kigali city excursion, golden monkey tracking among other optional activities as well as visiting Nyungwe forest national park for either chimpanzee trekking or canopy walk.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Ruhengeri
Your driver / guide will be waiting to welcome you at Kigali International airport or pick you up from your hotel in Kigali and show you around the city; you will visit Kaplaki crafts village, Kimironko market and the Gisozi genocide memorial site.
Have lunch and later in the afternoon;depart Kigali and transfer to Ruhengeri town arriving in the evening. Have dinner and stay overnight at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Five Volcanoes Lodge or Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge
Day 2: Trekking with Gorillas on Mind – Volcanoes National Park
Treat yourself to a heavy breakfast and a short drive to the park headquarters at kinigi for briefing and preparing you for an epic primates encounter. You will then set off for the gorilla trekking with the park ranger guide and porters – for those that may need them.
You will trek through the rugged terrain for 3 to 6 hours until you have the gorillas in sight. You are granted a full hour to observe and take pictures of the Gorillas.
Later in the evening if time allows, you have an optional visit to the Dian fossey gorilla fund campus. The campus is a state-of-the-art facility built to further the Fossey Fund’s research in areas such as gorilla genetics, physiology and paleontology. With the Research Center, the Fossey Fund will have five times more lab space allowing for greater collaboration with scientists and students. The Fossey Fund aims to help train the next generation of African conservationists, and the Research Center will be a key place for that training.
Here, you will learn more in details about the gorillas, their habitats, history of conservation and their future. Later you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Have breakfast and transfer to Nyungwe forest park with lunch en-route and arriving Nyungwe forest late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Hill View Hotel
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking& Canopy Walk.
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees in Nyungwe are not easy to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then return to your hotel / lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk at Uwinka; a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Before night fall, you will return to the hotel for dinner as above
Day 5: Return to Kigali& Departure
Enjoy breakfast at your pace and transfer back to Kigali. If the city tour wasn’t possible on the day of arrival, you will have a brief city tour and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
