Day 1 of 11 Days Uganda & Rwanda Safari : Arrival in Entebbe & Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport in the early morning, your safari guide will welcome you and begin your journey northward. Your first stop is Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can track wild rhinos. Accompanied by experienced rangers, you will track rhinos on foot, learning about conservation efforts to reintroduce them into Uganda’s national parks.

After the rhino experience, continue to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most spectacular wildlife reserve. Upon arrival, visit the Top of the Falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging 43 meters down, creating a breathtaking sight. Check in to your lodge and relax for the night.

Day 2 : Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Nile Boat Safari

Begin the day with an early morning game drive on the park’s savannah plains. Expect to see elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, leopards, antelopes, and many other wildlife species as the park comes to life.

In the afternoon, embark on a Nile boat safari to the bottom of Murchison Falls. As you cruise along the river, watch for hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, including the rare shoebill stork. The boat ride ends at the foot of the falls, offering an incredible perspective of this powerful cascade.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park & Bigodi Community Visit

After breakfast, drive south to Kibale Forest National Park, a primate haven famous for its high concentration of chimpanzees. The scenic journey takes you through rural villages, tea plantations, and lush countryside.

Upon arrival, visit the Bigodi Community for an immersive cultural experience. Engage with the local people, learn about their traditions, and take a guided nature walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, known for its diverse birdlife and primates. Check in at your lodge and relax for the evening.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, head into Kibale Forest for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience. With an expert guide, track a habituated group of chimpanzees and spend an hour observing their playful interactions, grooming habits, and communication skills.

After the trek, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time for an evening boat safari on the Kazinga Channel. This waterway connects Lake Edward and Lake George and hosts one of the highest concentrations of hippos in the world. You may also spot crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of bird species along the shores.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive & Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Start the day with a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, searching for tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector, along with elephants, buffaloes, and other wildlife.

After the game drive, continue to Lake Mburo National Park, a small but diverse park known for its zebras, impalas, and eland antelopes. Arrive in time for an evening sunset safari, where you can spot nocturnal wildlife as the day transitions into night.

Day 6: Morning Walking Safari & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Start the day with a walking safari, a unique experience that allows you to explore Lake Mburo’s wildlife on foot with an expert ranger guide. This up-close encounter provides insights into animal tracks, birdlife, and plant species.

After the walk, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, visit the Batwa community, where you will learn about the traditions of this indigenous forest-dwelling tribe. Spend the evening preparing for the next day’s gorilla trek.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Today is the highlight of your safari – an incredible gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi’s dense rainforest. Accompanied by experienced trackers, you will hike in search of a gorilla family and spend an hour observing their interactions. This is one of the most profound wildlife experiences in the world.

After the trek, cross into Rwanda and transfer to Volcanoes National Park, where you will check into your lodge for the night.

Day 8: Golden Monkey Trekking & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village

In the morning, embark on a golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park. These playful primates are endemic to the Virunga region and are a joy to watch as they leap through the bamboo forests.

In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you will engage with former poachers who have become conservationists. Learn about Rwandan traditions, participate in cultural dances, and even try your hand at local crafts.

 

Day 9: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, travel south to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests. The journey offers breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural communities. Arrive in the afternoon and settle into your lodge.

 

Day 10: Nyungwe Forest Nature Walk & Canopy Walk

Begin the day with a guided nature walk in Nyungwe Forest, exploring its lush greenery and diverse wildlife, including monkeys, birds, and rare orchids.

Later, experience Africa’s highest canopy walk, a thrilling suspension bridge that offers breathtaking views of the rainforest from above. This walk provides an excellent vantage point for spotting primates and birds in the treetops.

 

Day 11: Transfer to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast, drive to Kigali, Rwanda’s clean and vibrant capital. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a moving tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide, offering insights into Rwanda’s history and resilience.

If time permits, explore local markets before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
