Day 1: Pick-up & Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel or Kigali International Airport by your experienced driver-guide. Before heading to Nyungwe, you’ll embark on a short city tour of Kigali, visiting key landmarks such as local art centers, Kimironko Market, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center. Afterward, you’ll begin your journey to Nyungwe Forest, with a stopover at the historic King’s Palace and an en-route lunch break.

After lunch, you’ll journey to Nyungwe National Park, where an exciting canopy walk awaits. The adventure begins at the Uwinka Visitors Center, accessed via the Igishigishi Trail. Suspended 70 meters above the ground and stretching 160 meters long, the canopy walkway offers breathtaking aerial views of the dense forest, treetops, diverse bird species, and primates. This thrilling experience lasts approximately two hours, immersing you in the heart of Rwanda’s biodiversity. Afterward, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, you’ll transfer to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. The trek, which lasts 2 to 5 hours, takes you deep into the forest in search of these fascinating primates. Along the way, you’ll encounter other wildlife, including various monkey species, rare birds, and unique flora. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing their behavior, capturing photos and videos, and witnessing their daily activities in their natural habitat.

Following the trek, you’ll return to the starting point and reunite with your driver-guide for the scenic drive back to Kigali. Along the way, enjoy en-route lunch and admire the rolling hills, picturesque landscapes, and traditional homesteads.
