Rwanda Exclusive Luxury lodges
-
Singita Kwitonda Lodge
Set right on the edge of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, where more than a third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas find refuge, Singita Kwitonda Lodge’s unrivalled position puts lifechanging gorilla trekking experiences within easy reach. Each of the eight luxurious suites features a private heated plunge pool, wellness treatment area, in- and outdoor fireplaces and large timber-framed windows that welcome breathtaking scenery and volcano views inside.
-
Singita Kataza house
Singita Kataza House is set within a landscape of wetlands and lush meadows with magnificent views of the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes.
Designed around local materials, the use of volcanic rock, river stone, handmade ceramic tiles and oven-red clay bricks made by surrounding communities connect the villa to the landscape and its culture. These influences are interpreted in a contemporary style and entirely unique architectural layout.
Mountain bamboo, ferns, giant lobelias and forest trees provide a natural backdrop that over time will engulf the buildings and reclaim them back into the forest. Dramatic stone walls rise out of the volcanic boulders and a combination of green-roofed, stonewalled, organic cabin-like structures set alongside light verandas offers a dynamic play on shape and texture

One and Only Gorilla nest
Sitting in the foothills of the Virunga Mountains where primatologist Dian Fossey once worked, the
One&Only Gorilla’s Nest tells an unadulterated story of Rwanda and its mountain gorillas. The hotel is home to just 21 rooms, immersed in nature.
The constant sound of nature and local life is just one of the things that make the One&Only Gorilla’s Nest a place to experience the wild spirit of Rwanda. There are the rooms too, styled like treehouses up stilts, and with a design that draws the outside in. Like the wooden decks that look out over the eucalyptus forest around, and the decor in shades of browns with Rwandan imigongo motifs. The hotel was imagined by interior designer Hubertus Feit to give a subtle sense of Africa while taking nothing away from the true emphasis of the place: The surrounding landscape. This is perhaps why the hotel’s bar, restaurant and spa are all separately dotted down a path that weaves through the grounds: It gives the sense of wandering through a garden while further down the slopes, there are traditional Rwandan villages where the locals still farm the volcanic soil and the chef’s garden. Then, of course, the hotel’s restaurant and bar are places where the chatter is almost wholly gorilla-related after the day’s encounter with the great apes. They are warm and energetic spaces with dishes inspired by the story of Rwanda while elsewhere, a spa draws on traditional African wisdom.

Wilderness Bisate Lodge
Wilderness Bisate enjoys a truly dramatic natural setting at the heart of an amphitheater formed by eroded volcano cones. Six conically shaped thatched forest villas are tucked into the lush forest setting with spacious verandas opening out onto magnificent views of the surrounding peaks. The traditional shapes of the suites are a nod to Rwandan culture, while the sumptuous interiors maximize comfort and warmth while making the most of the scenic views. Each 91 square meter villa consists of a generous yet intimate combination of bedroom, reception space and bathroom, all warmed by a central fireplace and with breathtaking views out across your private deck towards Mount Bisoke.
The wine cellar is spectacular and a great spot for a romantic dinner and sipping on a fine glass of wine. Activities in the area include gorilla tracking, cultural village visits, sightings of the golden monkey, birding and tours to places of interest such as Lakes Ruhondo and Burera, the Musanze Caves and the grave of Dian Fossey. Enjoy a wonderful couples treatment in the spa after a captivating day trekking
