Farm to Cup Coffee Tour in Bwindi
July 10, 2026There are many ways to explore Uganda, but there is one route that has quietly become the favourite among travellers from around the world. It is the journey that introduces you to everything that makes Uganda extraordinary—its wildlife, its landscapes, its people, and its unforgettable mountain gorillas.
I like to call it The Muzungu Uganda Trail.
Not because it belongs to foreigners, but because if you ask around safari lodges, meet backpackers in Entebbe, or chat with travellers swapping stories over a cold Nile Special, you’ll realise this is the route almost everyone dreams about. It is the classic Uganda safari. The one that combines every iconic destination into one unforgettable adventure.
From the bustling shores of Lake Victoria to the thunder of Murchison Falls, from playful chimpanzees to tree-climbing lions, from the misty mountains of Bwindi to the peaceful savannah of Lake Mburo—this trail captures Uganda in its purest form.
By the time you return to Entebbe ten days later, you’ll understand why so many visitors arrive as tourists but leave feeling as though they have discovered a second home.
Day 1: Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park
The adventure begins with an early departure from Entebbe or Kampala as you head north through Uganda’s vibrant countryside. The first stop is the famous Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where wild rhinos roam freely.
Walking through the bush on foot, guided by experienced rangers, is an exciting start to the safari. Standing just metres away from a white rhino reminds you that Africa’s wildlife is far more powerful when experienced without the walls of a safari vehicle.
The journey continues towards Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest protected area. Before sunset, you’ll visit the Top of the Falls, where the mighty River Nile squeezes through a narrow seven-metre gorge before exploding into one of the world’s most dramatic waterfalls.
The roar is deafening. The spray fills the air. It is impossible not to stop and simply admire nature’s incredible force.
This is only the first day.
Day 2: Wildlife and the Mighty Nile
Morning brings the golden light that every safari lover dreams of.
The northern plains of Murchison Falls come alive with elephants grazing across endless savannah, giraffes browsing acacia trees, buffalo gathering in enormous herds, Uganda kobs standing alert, and if fortune smiles upon you, lions resting after a successful hunt or elusive leopards beginning their day.
After lunch, the adventure shifts to the water.
The afternoon boat safari along the Nile is unlike any other in Africa. Massive hippos crowd the riverbanks while crocodiles bask in the sun. African fish eagles soar overhead and colourful kingfishers dart across the water.
As the boat slowly approaches the base of Murchison Falls, the crashing water grows louder until the entire river disappears into a wall of mist.
It is one of Uganda’s greatest spectacles.
Day 3: Journey to Kibale National Park
Leaving the northern savannah behind, the landscape transforms dramatically.
Rolling tea plantations replace open grasslands, crater lakes appear between forested hills, and the cool highlands welcome you into western Uganda.
Your destination is Kibale National Park, often called the primate capital of the world.
The journey itself is part of the experience, revealing just how incredibly diverse Uganda really is.
