Day 2: First Mountain Gorilla Trekking

Start your day early with breakfast before heading to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a pre-trek briefing led by the park warden. Here, you’ll be assigned a gorilla family group to trek. By 8:30 am, you’ll set off on your trek through the lush forests, following experienced guides as you track the movements of the mountain gorillas. The trek can last between 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family, but the effort is rewarded when you finally encounter these magnificent creatures. You’ll have 1 hour to observe and photograph the gorillas in their natural habitat before returning to the starting point.

In the afternoon, you have the option to visit the Iby’lwacu Cultural Village, where you can immerse yourself in Rwandan traditions, music, and dance. Afterward, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, you’ll head back to the park headquarters for another gorilla trek, this time to visit a different gorilla family. This second trek offers a unique perspective as you encounter a new group with its own dynamics and behaviors. After spending time with the gorillas, return to your lodge for lunch.
